Much more than a dance school. Petit Papillon is a Concord-based community school for the dance arts. What sets Petit Papillon apart from other dance education institutions not only in Concord, but all of New Hampshire is our dedication to learning, individual development and enjoyment through movement in a positive, non-competitive environment.
Students are nurtured and supported. Creativity given room to grow and blossom. A very important part of our mission is to ensure that the traditions of dance and movement are sustained and carried on. Through exposure and celebration, education and training. We are committed to educating children and adults of all abilities, and do not discriminate on the basis of race, national/ethnic origin, religion or gender.
For over thirty years, Petit Papillon has earned a well-deserved reputation for excellence in dance education, performance and the promotion of the art of dance. For cultivating and nurturing the talented and the not so talented so that every student may find the artist within.
The Ballet Theatre of New Hampshire is the performing arm of the school. Dancers ages 11 through 17 may audition for membership in the company. The Ballet Theatre presents one to two major productions each year. In addition, the company also maintains a vigorous outreach program to schools, and benefit performances for hospitals, nursing homes and other non-profit community organizations.
This is a long overdue letter of appreciation for sharing your gifts and the gifts of your performers during last spring's performance. It was an amazing gift for both the students and the adults who attended.
I can still remember the words of one of our more challenging 5th grade boys who told me on the walk back to school that he really enjoyed the performance. This young man, like many of our K-5 students, had never attended a ballet performance in his life. It was clear to me that it was an experience that he will not soon forget.
It is no secret that young children find entertainment value in many non-artistic pastimes. As video games and other forms of media draw the attention away from much more productive and creative outlets like dance, it is refreshing to see a group of young performers keeping the arts alive. The value of the gift that you shared with our school community cannot be measured, but I know it had an impact. Thank you so much.
Hi Pat, Kelly,
I attended the Sat night performance of Lost Princess of Oz a few weeks ago already and have intended to write to you!
It was fantastic. Brilliant! Such costumes, such a story, such music, such lighting on the R.P. Hale back drop, and confident poised dancing -
such pleasure to see your choreography. I just think you're amazing to come up with these performances in your mind's eye : ) I thoroughly enjoyed the show! Sincerely, Nancy
Dear Mrs Walker,
Yet again you have created a thing of beauty. The Angels dance was a joy to behold. You and Kelly are doing such wonderful work with these girls and we appreciate all of it. There's the dancing itself but also you foster a healthy and positive environment for these growing young women in a society that sends a lot of conflicting messages. Thank you for your dedication to excellence and Happy Holidays!

"The program at NEC on Sunday was delightful! I never cease to be amazed at the level of artistry exhibited by your students. I see so much growth in all the dancers from year to year. That, of course , speaks volumes about you (Pat), Kelly and Carrie!". Thank you for putting up with all the headaches and continuing to provide this community with such obvious excellence."
Good afternoon, Pat! Before things got too hectic here, I wanted to drop a note to you to THANK YOU so much for a delightful show last Saturday. Though we got delayed getting there by a very nasty accident in Hookset, my son Christopher and I only missed a couple of minutes in the beginning, and still thoroughly enjoyed each performance. You have such talented kids with you! I wish we lived closer so he could take advantage of your company.
Be well, and keep up the great work!!
P.S. Mucho kudos to "The Swan"! I noticed her shoe came off mid-performance and she STILL went on pointe without a hitch. Such professionalism! Brava.
