New Hampshire's Premier Martial Arts Family - Celebrating years in the martial arts and granting over $92,000 in college scholarships to our most deserving students
The Independent Karate School was founded in 1979 on the premise that the martial arts are for everyone. We believe that the art should be tailored to the individual, and not the other way around. Our name comes from our practice of focusing on our own students. While our top instructors have trained with some of the greatest martial arts masters, we are not part of any national chain or organization. We do not participate in programs or gimmicks. We teach karate the way it was taught to us more than thirty years ago.
With these concepts in mind, the Independent Karate School has developed a non-contact program that keeps the tried and true tradition of Kenpo (the name of the style) and at the same time accepts any and all ideas that will work well within the system. Therefore, everyone, whether he or she be mentally of physically handicapped, young, or old, man woman, or child, can enjoy learning the art in complete safety.
In order to offer a complete karate program, the Independent Karate School has classes in encompassing forms, self-defense, philosophy, history and also breaking, free sparring, and Oriental weaponry. General classes and private lessons are available and taught according to a weekly schedule. All classes are taught by a certified black belt.
The karate material that is taught is the same material that has been taught for decades at the Independent Karate School. Beyond the punching and kicking though are many other lessons and benefits.
The best way to learn about who we are and what we do is to speak to the staff, students and parents that make up our martial arts family. We welcome visitors to come observe our classes at both our Nashua and Merrimack schools, and also have some testimonials that members of our community have written.
