There have been chimney sweep scams in Maine recently. Please be wary of anyone who comes to your door and offers service, this is a very common way to scam artists to operate. We helped the Rochester Police with a similar scam a few years ago, and are now trying to help in Maine as well. The "Busy Season" is here! And we are happy to be able to help you with your chimney and heating needs.
But for next year consider having your service done at the end of the heating season for several reasons:
1. Dirt does NOT get better with age. So why keep it around?
2. Creosote in left in your chimney will cause unpleasant odors over the summer, especially when it is hot & humid.
3. The acids in the soot can damage your chimney.
4. Pellets left in a pellet stove will breakdown and shorten the life of your stove. All pellet manufacturers require end of season maintenance and most recommend that it be performed by an NFI Certified Pellet Professional (both Mark Jones and David Turner carry this certification).
5. The chimney will be clean, safe and ready for use when you need it.
6. If you do need repairs to your chimney, fireplace, or heating unit there will be time to fix it properly before the heating season starts.
7. Everyone else is also waiting until the last minute, so the "wait time" for an appointment may be 4-6 weeks, instead of days.
8. We offer discounts to our returning customers who have their chimney flues swept at the end of the year.
