Writing Monologues and Short Scenes for the Stage and Screen at the Village Book Store
So you've heard dramatic voices in your head, talking away. You may have a rant or a rave that you need to get down on paper. The Village Book Store is pleased to offer a workshop on writing monologues taught by Becky Cummings. In this 4 part class students will look at the role of conflict on the stage and write from 'one' point of view, and then flip it and write about it from the antagonist point of view. Students will write short scenes that consider character, objective, obstacles and action as tools for stage writing.
Becky Cummings is an enthusiastic teacher who has taught creative self expression for the last 15 years. From boarding schools in the White Mountains of NH, to the inner city programs for men and women in addiction recovery, to summer art camps in the suburbs, Becky helps create a space of community and collaboration. To learn more about Becky visit her website www.createcollaborateconnect.com.

This event is free and all are welcome.
The Christmas Mink and Other December Tales from the North Woods brings the spirit of the season alive. In this whimsical collection of Christmas stories and poems from the snowy north woods of New England, see the season in a new light and find the holiday spirit in unlikely places – in Siberia, from the tail of the Christmas Comet, or even your own tree.
In the title tale, THE CHRISTMAS MINK, young Will, worried about finding a gift for his generous mother, receives a miraculous gift courtesy of a talking mink. In COAL hapless elves Jeremiah Blizzard and Artie Sleet must travel to Siberia to gather Santa’s supply of coal for his list of VBK’s (very bad kids). Follow noble TOBIAS the donkey on a journey of undeniable importance.
Join curmudgeonly old woodsmen, living ornaments, a congress of talking animals, a horde of helpful mice and one grandiose moose in these rousing December tales certain to please both cynic and celebrant alike.
John-Richard Thompson was born in New Hampshire and raised by minks in an abandoned hunting lodge. He now lives in New York City.
