Here at Pawsitive Image we take pride in offering each pet individualized care and gentle handling. From the youngest pup to our beloved geriatric pets each will be handled on an individual basis according to their unique physical and emotional needs. I work by appointment and prefer to limit my dogs so that they all get personal attention.
Unlike many shops I do not feel the need to keep your pet all day. I do however like the pet here in a time frame that allows us a chance to get acquainted and not have to rush.
Joleen and I have recently received our Reiki Level II certifications. Reiki energy is used generously in the shop to help all of us relax, heal, and enjoy, --- for our highest good of course!
For the people that work and need their pet here for a day I certainly will accommodate them as well. All pets staying more than half a day are walked and offered water during their stay.
Sandy, the owner/groomer hasmany years of experience in the field of professional pet grooming both local and in other areas of the US. I have worked in many grooming settings including shops, kennels and veterinary clinics and have owned a very busy grooming shop in Morehead City, NC. Throughout my life I have always been very involved with animals. I attend seminars and grooming expos whenever possible, I enjoy keeping up to date on the latest styles and techniques. I have a certificate in Animal Health, a Reiki practionerand a member of NDGAA (National Dog Groomers Association of America) and NEPGP(New England Pet Grooming Professionals). I also taught small animal grooming at Thompson School of Applied Science at UNH for several semesters.
Ourstaff is well trained to take care of your pets as well. They come to us withyears of varied animal experience in their background. If I wouldn't leave my beloved animals with them, I won't doit with yours!
When your pet comes in for grooming we will discuss your personal preference for your groom. If you dont know I can certainly offer ideas and suggestions. Your pet is then brought out back and the process begins. He/she will receive a brush out or haircut of choice, nails are cut and ears are cleaned and/or plucked. Then its over to the tub where anal glands are checked and expressed if necessary, a thorough bath with warm water and appropriate shampoo are given and any other treatments for skin or hair are administered. All bathing is done by hand this gives me the opportunity to notice any lumps, bumps, skin or health issues that need to be brought to you and your vets attention. Next comes the big scary dryer. Most pets adjust to this well if care is used to start the process, in fact, after a few grooms many of them actually begin to lean into it and enjoy it. Most of our drying is hand drying however we will partially crate dry some of the big guys to give them a break from the table. When they are dry, they are finish clipped or given their final brushout, buffed, fluffed and set to go home.
